December 2008
Dear Parents,
December already! What an exciting time of year. It is definitely one of the most beautiful times all year long, both inside and out….although I could do without the -40 degrees….still we have so much to be thankful for; especially all the young ones running around, so full of energy and excitement for that special day.
December is a busy time of the year. There are school concerts, shopping & wrapping and of course all that Christmas baking to get done. We have a couple special dates set aside for the after school. On Wednesday December 10th, we are inviting parents, grandparents or guardians to join us for Christmas tea. The tea will begin at 3:30. We will be serving cookies & hot chocolate and the classes will have a little presentation for the parents. We hope you can join us. Friday December 19th is the last day of school before Christmas break. We will be having a party for the children and are asking you to send in a wrapped gift with your child’s name on it. Please make sure the retail value does not exceed $10.00 and the gift is in no later than Wednesday December 17th.
Friday December 12th will be Christina’s last day with us. She is moving to England for six months and we wish her all the best. Christina is a great co-worker and a wonderful person to know. We will miss her greatly.
Thank you to all the families who donated to the food drive. Although we did not reach our goal of 300 lbs. we still made an impact on helping meet the needs of the Riverview Food Bank who provide for our community families. So again, a big thank you to all!
Holly

Please make sure your child has a spare change of clothes, especially now with playing in the snow. They must also have mittens/gloves, a hat, ski pants & winter coat and winter boots as we do go outside on a daily basis. When the temperature/wind chill reaches -20 degrees Celsius, this is when we stay inside. It is also important that they have a pair of indoor shoes. If your child is missing theirs please check the lost & found.
Skating is every Tuesday (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm) & Friday (4:00pm – 4:45 pm). Please note the children do not get back to the centre before 5:00pm.
